Hungarian police now use drones to detect violations on the road

Police drones have detected several red-light runners outside a village where temporary traffic lights were installed. The local police are planning on using drones on a regular basis.

As Infostart reports, police drones were at work near Berzence, a village sitting on the Hungary–Croatia border, where traffic lights have been installed for the duration of road works that are taking place there. As a result, drivers often have to wait several minutes to get the green light,

And the police drones captured many vehicles (cars, minivans, and even trucks) as their drivers were impatiently running the red light.

And this is very dangerous as at any moment vehicles could have come from the opposite direction as well. As Infostart explains, the method is handy in detecting violations on the road, not only concerning traffic lights:

With drone footage, police can tell if someone does not have their seat belt fastened, or if drivers do not give way to someone they are supposed to.
